AEFA Premiership Kick-off.

The AEFA Premiership was started again today ending a long period of friendlies and un-official competitions. The media delas were completed earlier today and the financial allocations were distributed, paving the way for the new season to begin. A season which has long been anticipated by Seraphim fans as Scunthorpe look to progress on last years 4th place finish.

Seraphim kicked off their campaign at home to Dhull. Club captain Alisson was suspended for accumulating five yellow cards last season as was Leandro Grimi. So they started with a slightly weakened first eleven. Dhull started the brighter of the two teams with a compliment of no less than four strikers from the beginning of the match. Seraphim absorbed some early pressure but goalkeeper Esteban Condé had nothing more than a few glove warming shots to deal with.

The break-through was made in the 25th minute when Dhull failed to clear from a Serrizuela corner and last seasons Premiership top scorer Mauro Zárate was there to force the ball home from close range at the back post. The rest of the game was an episode of Seraphim dominance but despite the pressure there would be no more goals.

Into the second half and Dhull commanded in a 20 minute spell which almost saw them break Seraphims rearguard when a cross was fizzed within the six yard box but there was nobody there to add the finishing touch. Seraphim could have added to their single goal but Luka Modric had a goal disallowed for offside mid-way through the second half.

The remainder of the game passed off without incident seeing Scunthorpe enjoy spells of possession, a professional performance and three points was seen out astutely by Seraphim's defence. Ygor was in excellent form filling the void left by Alisson in defence snuffing out anything Dhull could throw at his back line.

FT: Scunthorpe Seraphim 1-0 Dhull.
